Cute Lessons

Children are so adorable and interesting to be with. It was from them I learnt that people do not learn bad. It is inborn just as good is inborn. Let me give you an example. I was with a friend’s one-year old son, a boy that just learnt how to start walking. Let’s call him Cute. He still holds the stools and chairs as he walks. That day, I had my phone charging somewhere in the living room. Cute liked the blue light blinking on the charger. He made several attempts to reach the charger but I warned him not to go near the charger for his safety. He did not cry or get angry with me. When I was engulfed by a Nigerian movie, Cute crept behind the chairs, stealthily, using a long unsuspecting route to get to the charger. Thank God for my side eye and back eye. I caught him just before he put his tiny finger into the socket.

How did he know that he should wait for me to start watching Nigerian movie before he creeps behind the chairs?

Anyway, Cute left me wondering about something that day. Sometime later, he was playing with my phone when it rang. I asked him to give it to me. Now, I knew he was not an experienced walker. He had the phone in one hand. If he had to stand, first he needed his two hands to lift himself up. But he did not want to release the phone. He found it difficult standing up. He crept a little and helped himself up with my feet, then my legs, stood up and attempted walking towards me. I saw the effort he put in trying to reach me. I so loved him at that moment. I reached out to him and helped him walk towards me. Then I lifted him up and swung him the way he enjoys.

For that moment many questions surfaced my head. Is that how God sees us His children? Does He know sometimes we find it difficult taking on new experiences? Does He see our efforts and is moved by our small determinations? Is He so eager to draw near to us as we draw near to Him? Does He get so excited when we rely and trust in Him ? Does He love us so much that He seizes every opportunity to help us? Does He so desire to lift us up and take us to heights we have never imagine? Do you have answers to these questions?

It takes faith, courage and trust to reach out to Him in every situation. But believe me, not only is He continually trying to reach out to us, He is too eager to touch us in that way that makes all the difference.

Remain blessed and compliments of the season.

I thot that was wonderful using the baby to parallel us and God. And I think you are right, I think we are like children and like us Adults when we see a child, get excited at our small victories and our walk towards him, sometimes when we fall, we forget he's there waiting for us to get back up again, with arms wide open.

Blessings Rita

thats y Jesus in some new testament illustrations likened us to a child..... if only we also believed me like a child agrees to everything we tell them.....

I really love this post, it's so well written and the parallel is so relatable. It makes us understand how God can love us even when we fail in our efforts at getting closer to him..
I'm gonna recommend these post to any readers who come on my blog :)

That's exactly how He sees us.

I believe that the areas in life where I can't keep up walking with Him, He carries me, to ensure I'm not left behind.....:-)

I really like this post- very uplifting.

@Zena: Thank you. I have truly enjoyed my small victories with me that I look forward to more of it.

@Funms-the rebirth: I try so hard to believe like a child…totally believing…God help us.

@Wordsmith: Thank you.

@~Sirius~: Keep up walking with Him? Please can you talk more about this?
Thank God you liked this post.

@bArOquE: Oh bArOquE, LOL, how else do you want babies to express themselves? When they are hungry, do u want them to smile and be cute? LOL. Hmmm, so God is indeed impressed when we rely on Him? It is one thing to know this. God help us to do it…

Children never seize to amaze me...I have seen a child's face turn cunning in an instant...

I think the way we look at them amusingly is the same way God looks at us when we decide to sneak and do something he already forbid....

yes, He actually laughs when we come back repentant looking....cos he knos most times the repentant look is just for him as we wont hesitate to do something else...when we have forgotten that filure though..

There are times When He leads us through certain paths in life in order to get us ready and prepared for what we were called to do, and as human beings we follow His lead trying as much as we can to do that as well as face all that life brings our way....

He's with us as we struggle and fight different battles still with the zeal of getting to where He's leading us too, and sometimes we fall because we think we can't deal with everything at the same time- This is where He carries us(by giving a sign, hope and renewing our faith- and with that we get the strength to get back on our feet and continue the walk :-) )

Kinda reminds me of a generic picture I've seen.......two sets of footsteps in the sand along the beach fading into the horizon and at the beginning you see two sets up until a certain point, then you notice there is only one set......Because when we are weak to go on He lifts us.....Just like you did with the baby.

Your posts are always so uplifting. I'm making a mental not to always say something when I visit.

I love the parallel you draw between the baby experience and how God sees us. I know he's carried me through many difficult times, even when he's already told me not to take that path. He welcomes me back always. What a wonderful father he is. No greater love!

Thank you for this post. Please don't ever stop!

sometimes i wish i could lock the childhood of my nieces secure in all the mischievousness of the lot.
especially their trusting attitudes, but i cant.
to think we are the same way in Gods eyes.
does he get tempted to lock us up in all our innocence, so far away from sin?
i wish he would...
but then theres a lot to be learned from the letting us be, the lesson is a guide to us.
no matter how tough situations are,and all the tumbling blocks, hes always there waiting for us to reach out to him so he can guide us.
we're lucky to have such a father despite ourselves.

This is LOVELY.
Well, I believe this is how God sees us - ALWAYS reaching out 2 us. It's left 4 us to reach out 2 HIM.

@Afrobabe: LOL @ repentant look. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve had that look on my face. So He laughs...?

@ ~Sirius~: Thank you for the clarification. Now I get it…

@Standtall: Yes oh! He is awesome…

@Nefertiti: Thank you so much. I love your words on “No Greater Love!”. Cant imagine life without His kind of love.

@Aloted: You’re welcome. I guess children show purity and innocence that’s why there is a lot to learn?

@Jaycee: Thank you.

@Fantasy Queen: I love your analogy. I “locking us up” was what He tried to do in the beginning before the fall of man. And He keeps trying. I guess we should be thankful that we have such a God and Father who loves us despite ourselves.

Thanks for your enriching words.

@Tommeh: Thank you. For me, it sounds like it’s time to reach out to Him.

@bArOquE: When are we seeing?

I like the picture of how our hearts melt towards kids and we are just human. It must be God reaches us so ... but can our faith key in?

If we can only have the faith, its too certain, i know, that our expectations will unfold... like a miracle.

my weekly dose of inspirational message! Frankly thats d way God sees us...d bible says line by line, precepts by precepts...he helps us groOW but were we miss it is when we wanna do it all by ourself...by strength shall no man prevail

Oh that is such a beautiful message, Rita. I'm really imagining it all happening - the way he crept up to you and used you as his support to stand up. That really is the way we ought to be with God, innit??

I like this!

i not sure i agree with the fact that it is inborn...children are naturally curious...like teenagers, they too want to learn and understand their environment through experience and not thru another's knowledge like an adult's warning.

'Is that how God sees us His children? Does He know sometimes we find it difficult taking on new experiences? Does He see our efforts and is moved by our small determinations? Is He so eager to draw near to us as we draw near to Him? Does He get so excited when we rely and trust in Him ? Does He love us so much that He seizes every opportunity to help us? Does He so desire to lift us up and take us to heights we have never imagine?'

to every one of your questions the answer is yes...he knows that we are here to understand that which are...his loving children...so of course he always wants to lift us up into his arms...but like you he keeps an eye on his children...even when we think he isn't looking...so that he can protect us from harms way when curiosity gets the better of us

I totally agree with you here. Children are simply the most wonderful creatures. I look at my daughter evry now and then and feel tears clouding my eyes at such radiation of love and innocence (even though sometimes they have their own smartly-naughty natures)Sometimes I wish we all retained our childlike innocence. The world would definitely have been a much better place. I believe this is the way God sees and accepts us, regardless of our flaws. If only we could trust in Him and love him like children would love and trust their parents. I'm so moved by this post. Rita, u have this way with words that keeps one glued. How u take dey do am, abeg? lol

Very correct. We are like children before God our creator. He knows our weak points and our strenghts.
